If you’ve been asking yourself “Where should I go on vacation?”, then this might be the answer for you! If you love relaxing in and around an outdoor pool in the sun, while lazily cooking camping style, and all in beautiful desert scenery, you will love the MiniMountain Resort, Rancho de la Sierra just outside of Cabos San Lucas in Mexico!
Description: We came here for a week just after Christmas 2011 with family. This mini-resort is located on a private estate 5 miles from the Cabos San Lucas Airport in Mexico. With only three casitas (little houses) next to a pool and large patio/bbq area, this is the kind of place you come to relax and enjoy the quiet getaway. You might consider renting a car if you plan to take daytrips into the local area. Otherwise, we really enjoyed just staying on the property most of the time as it is so beautiful and relaxing.

Michelle Says: This was probably one of my favorite vacations that we have taken lately: the pool was terrific, nice covered area, and lots of chairs to lay out in the sun with. The covered area turned into one of the places that I spent most of the days at because there is a nice table which we enjoyed lunches and plenty of games, however the best part is that the pool was literally less than twenty feet away from the pool and you could even see the casitas from both the covered area and the pool which was very convenient. Having no internet was definitely a drawback, as well as the fact that there was only single beds in the rooms and there was barely any door to the bathrooms which got a little bit awkward... | Christine Says: I loved this place! The pool and bbq area (aka the “party palapa”) was so comfortable with a big covered area. We felt right at home cooking on the bbq and relaxing in the pool. We went into Cabos one day, but to be honest I could have done without it - this place was much quieter and waaaayyyy less crowded! The casitas were very clean and comfortable too. You just need to make sure you like who you come with because although the bathroom is behind a low separating wall and saloon-like doors, there’s no actual door! (Just fyi!). The casitas have a little kitchen inside and you are responsible for your own cooking (it feels like camping and we enjoyed it!). The only problem I had was that there was no internet access as we were led to believe so I wish I could have come prepared and brought board games and movies to watch together (on a laptop or something) in the evenings etc. While there’s nothing per se to do here, like in the more traditional hotels, doing nothing is largely what I want in a vacation so it was perfect for me! Each casita has two twin beds (which could be pushed together for a couple) so in theory you could come with a group of six and rent out the whole place. This place is not suited for younger kids, but older teens that know what to expect could enjoy this vacation opportunity. And it would definitely be great for an all-adult trip! |
